A busy August focused on the start of the new school year
Dear members,
August was another busy month for BIOQuébec, with 50 events, meetings, and content productions, as well as 13 networking opportunities that facilitated new collaborations within our industry.
I had the pleasure of being a panelist and judge at the event On the Verge/iGEM, an always stimulating moment that encourages students and young researchers interested in starting a business in life sciences and health technologies. These exchanges remind us of the richness of our next generation and the importance of supporting them in their first entrepreneurial steps.
I would also like to highlight how pleased I was to reconnect with several players in the sector during the BBQ du CQIB — a friendly gathering that illustrates how much the strength of our industry also lies in the quality of its human relationships.
Moving forward with our priorities and preparing for the fall
This August was also used to make progress on several important issues for the association and to prepare for what promises to be a very busy fall: political meetings, networking events, and trade missions planned in Ontario, at Japan and in Europe.
We kicked off the fall season with the second BIOPolitique meeting of the year, where we had the pleasure of welcoming Christine Fréchette, Minister of Economy, Innovation, and Energy. The discussions addressed several priority issues for our industry, while providing an overview of the government’s direction for the future of the sector. We continue to work on positioning our industry to increase its visibility and influence.
Apart from the appointment of Samuel Poulin as Minister for the Economy and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Mr. Legault’s new cabinet allows us to build on existing relationships. We congratulate Mr. Poulin and remain committed to ensuring that our industry’s voice continues to be heard.
We are also counting on you. Your experiences in the field, your suggestions, and your initiatives help us better guide our actions and accurately defend the interests of the industry. Please continue to share your concerns and successes with us: together, we can build an environment that is more conducive to innovation, growth, and the influence of our businesses and organizations.
We look forward to seeing you and chatting at the back-to-school networking event next Tuesday!
