March 2025 Newsletter

Dear members

The year 2025 is evolving in an unstable and unpredictable economic and political environment likely to force strategic adjustments in our industry. Sometimes it's a question of minimizing negative impacts, sometimes of seizing new opportunities. Trade tensions and rising input costs are making companies more vulnerable, while uncertainty over research and business funding is holding back investment.

We also have to deal with regulatory changes and cross-border irritants that make doing business more complex. At the same time, it is crucial to limit the deleterious effects that our governments' response to the challenges posed by our main trading partner could add to the equation.

BIOQuébec is stepping up its efforts to support growth, ensure that companies have the necessary resources and position our industry as a pillar of economic development.

BIOQuébec in action: a committed month of February

In February, BIOQuébec took 29 public affairs actions, illustrating its commitment to defending and promoting our sector. These included:

  • 11 events organized or in which we participated, fostering dialogue between industry players.
  • 8 interventions with political, consular and ministerial contacts, enabling strategic exchanges to improve understanding of our issues.
  • 2 official correspondences, our latest newsletter, presenting our recommendations on key issues.
  • 8 associative or institutional meetings, reinforcing the cohesion of our ecosystem.

These actions are aimed at ensuring greater recognition of our sector and creating concrete opportunities for our members. As the Quebec budget is unveiled on March 25, we are continuing our efforts to promote our industry's contributions to the economy and innovation.

Reinforcing our positioning and alliances

We enter 2025 with a clear determination to consolidate our achievements and explore new avenues. The U.S. market remains central, but we must also diversify our alliances in Canada, Europe and Asia.

Our 2025 program includes several international events that will provide strategic opportunities to promote Quebec expertise and strengthen our collaborations.

A strong message for the future

This is a decisive year. We need to ensure a favorable environment for the development of our industry. We are continuing our discussions with public decision-makers to ensure that companies have the right framework for innovation and growth.

BIOQuébec is determined to play a leading role in these discussions and to defend the interests of our sector. We will continue to promote the emergence of new opportunities and to make government authorities aware of our realities.

We are counting on your commitment to maintain this momentum. Let's seize the opportunities to turn challenges into opportunities and ensure prosperity.

Benoit Larose, President and CEO
