BIOQuébec informs its members that an exemption from Canadian surtaxes on certain U.S. goods is in effect until October 15, 2025, in accordance with theCBSA notice CN25-19.
In our sector, the discount is granted :
- For public health purposes : in respect of imported goods, for example by or for organizations producing or storing medical countermeasures, including pharmaceuticals or medical devices
- For health care purposes : for the provision of medically necessary healthcare services, for example by or on behalf of an entity that provides products or services related to blood, cells, tissues or organs as part of medically necessary care

Despite the administrative burden of processing requests for exemption from the surtax and the complexity that may ensue, BIOQuébec welcomes this measure, which echoes our advocacy efforts.
