Staying the course in an unpredictable environment
Dear members
As the first half of the year draws to a close, the summer months have been busy. BIOQuébec’s pace of activity has remained steady, and the team has taken the opportunity to plan for what promises to be a busy fall, judging by the number of events already on our calendar. This transition period has also allowed many to take a step back and enjoy some rest.
We have reached an important milestone: BIOQuébec now has more than 300 members. This threshold illustrates the recognition of the role we play in advancing the industry's priorities.
In June and July, BIOQuébec contributed to 83 events, meetings, and content productions, and facilitated 63 connections between organizations. Among the highlights, our participation in BIO 2025 in Boston allowed us to showcase our strengths, increase our visibility, and advocate for our priorities with various stakeholders. We also announced an agreement with Bioscience Association Manitoba (BAM), which strengthens our Canada-wide network.
In an increasingly unpredictable global context, it is essential to maintain our relations with the United States, develop our ties with Canada, and open up more channels with Europe and Asia. That is why our association will be present at BIO-Europe and BIO Japan this fall. Quebec must also position itself as a welcoming environment for innovation and a safe haven for projects weakened by uncertainty elsewhere.
By the end of the year, we will update our budget requests to better reflect the needs of our industry. CeSAM meetings will resume in the coming weeks, and we will continue our work with the CRIC, our efforts to adapt programs, and our vigilance in the face of international disruptions—in order to mitigate their effects and seize opportunities as they arise.
Thank you for your commitment, which helps us advance an industry with considerable economic weight and potential for growth and societal impact.
