A Woman to Lead the Génome Québec Board of Directors
Montréal, March 19, 2019 – A woman will be at the helm of the Génome Québec Board of Directors for the first time since the organization’s inception in 2000. Anie Perrault, LL.L, ASC, will be taking office today.
The Board is pleased to welcome Ms. Perrault in her new role and would also like to use this opportunity to extend its thanks to outgoing Chair Martin Godbout, O.C., PhD, who is stepping down after almost eight years of service. Génome Québec was fortunate to be able to count on his extensive expertise in genomics for so many years. In 2000, Mr. Godbout was the founding president and CEO of Genome Canada, an organization he led for nearly a decade. The Board also wishes to thank François R. Roy for his service as Acting Chair of the Board in recent months.
Ms. Perrault, a lawyer by training and a seasoned administrator, has a long track record in the field of research and innovation and possesses a very thorough knowledge of genomics. Since 2014, she has worked as Executive Manager for BIOQuébec, the largest biotechnology and life sciences network in Québec. She also spent several years working within federal and municipal institutions and went on to serve as Vice-President of Communications at Genome Canada for over five years.
She has been a certified corporate director (administratrice de sociétés certifiée - ASC) since 2013, credentials she earned from the Université Laval Collège des administrateurs de sociétés. She currently sits on the Loto-Québec Board and, until recently, also served on the Board of Université de Sherbrooke. She has served as a member of the Génome Québec Board and its finance committee since 2016.
“Ms. Perrault’s leadership, vast network of influence and governance skills are a perfect fit for the Génome Québec Board of Directors. This appointment is also important to us since it reflects our commitment to gender equality,” said Daniel Coderre, President and CEO of Génome Québec.
“It’s an honour for me to have been selected to lead the Génome Québec Board of Directors. I have always had a keen interest in genomics. It’s a technology with tremendous potential that comes with stimulating challenges in terms of its integration and democratization. By drawing on the diversity of my professional experience, I hope to help bring this technology closer to the people. Issues of strategic and scientific development, public education and social acceptance are all particularly important to me,” explained Ms. Perrault.
